The deal

Comic Scry ("the app") is provided by Adam Kinney ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Identification + pricing are estimates

Comic Scry helps you triage comic collections. The book identification, value tier, and price ranges it shows are best-effort estimates based on AI vision and PriceCharting's aggregated market data — not guarantees of what a specific copy will sell for in your local market.

Many things affect a comic's actual price that the app cannot see from a single phone photo: condition, edition (newsstand vs. direct, first vs. later printing), variant cover, restoration, color, page quality, slab grade, current demand trends, and your sales channel. Use Comic Scry to decide which books to research further. Use it to triage. Do not use it as the sole basis for buying or selling decisions on books that matter.

Comic Scry is not an appraisal service. Before you part with money on a high-tier book — yours or someone else's — confirm the value against multiple sources: an in-hand inspection, recent sold-listings on a marketplace you trust, and a professional grader (CGC, CBCS, EGS) for any slab candidate. Comic Scry's output is a starting point for that work, not a substitute for it.

Scan allotments

Free downloads include a five-scan trial to verify the app works for you. Comic Scry Pro is a one-time $19.99 in-app purchase that unlocks 500 lifetime scans on your device. Allotments are tied to your install (Apple App Attest + Keychain device identifier). If you reinstall on the same Apple ID with iCloud Keychain enabled, your allotment carries over. If you erase and reinstall, you get a fresh allotment.

No subscription

Comic Scry Pro is a one-time purchase. You will never be charged a recurring fee for Comic Scry's core scanning functionality. Refunds for the Pro purchase are processed through Apple's standard refund flow — we do not handle them directly.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's source code or models.
• Use the app's identification service for any purpose other than scanning your own comic photos (no batch automation, no scraping, no resale of identification calls).
• Submit images that aren't comic covers in an attempt to abuse the AI service.

We may rate-limit, throttle, or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms, including refunding the Pro purchase if needed.

Third-party content

Comic Scry surfaces cover artwork sourced primarily from the Grand Comics Database, and pricing data from PriceCharting. Each is a separate service with its own terms and accuracy guarantees. We credit each source in the app's Settings.

Comic publishers, character names, cover art, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Comic Scry does not claim any rights to identified IP — we just point at it.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the identification service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any losses (financial, time, opportunity, or otherwise) arising from your use of or reliance on Comic Scry's output.

Changes

We may update these terms when the app changes meaningfully. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect that. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms.
