It got the wrong issue / wrong year / wrong publisher.#

Save the item, open it from your collection, and tap Report wrong identification under Feedback. We pre-fill an email with what the app thought the book was — you tell us what it actually is. Mis-identifications go straight into the catalog improvement queue.

I bought Comic Scry Pro on one device, how do I get it on another?#

Open Comic Scry → Settings → Restore Purchases. Apple will look up your past purchases against your Apple ID and unlock Comic Scry Pro on the new device. You won't be charged again.

What happens if I delete the app?#

Your collection (the books you saved) is stored locally and is deleted with the app. Your Comic Scry Pro purchase is tied to your Apple ID — reinstalling and tapping "Restore Purchases" gets it back. Your scan count resets if Keychain isn't backed up.

Can I export my collection?#

Yes. Settings → "Export to CSV" gives you a sharable file with every saved book, price, and tier.

How does Comic Scry decide a book is "Major" vs "Bulk"?#

Based on the high end of the asking-price range. Bulk: under $15. Modest: $15–$49. Solid: $50–$199. High: $200–$999. Major: $1,000+. These are eBay asking prices for raw (ungraded) copies — and asking prices run higher than final sale prices, so read the tier as "worth a closer look," not a sale guarantee. A slabbed copy in a high grade will often sell for many multiples of the tier shown. See why the range can be so wide.

Why is the value range so wide on old key issues?#

For a 60-year-old key, condition is almost everything. The same issue can be worth a few dollars as a worn, ungraded reading copy and six figures as a professionally graded high-grade copy — that's not two different books, it's the same book in two very different conditions. Comic Scry shows the span so you know the ceiling is worth chasing, not because every copy hits it. A trailing + on the high number means graded copies above the grade we quote can sell for even more.

Could my copy really be worth the top number?#

Only if it's authentic and high-grade. The top of the range assumes a real, well-preserved copy. Reprints, facsimile editions, coverless or incomplete copies, and outright fakes are worth a small fraction — and a phone photo can't tell them apart. If the ceiling is high, the move is the same: get it professionally graded and authenticated (CGC or CBCS) before you assume anything.

The price changed after I scanned — why?#

The first time you scan a less common book you might see "Checking the market…" while we pull the current eBay listings for it. If enough copies are listed, a range appears; if only a couple are — common for obscure books — there may be no range yet. Listings change, so a book with no range today can show one later, and a range can move as sellers list and delist. The number is a triage signal from active listings, not a fixed guess.

If I scan the same book twice, do I get two rows in my collection?#

No — the second save bumps the existing row's quantity. Estate-sale case: you find three of the same Hulk issue in one box, scan once, tap the stepper up to 3, save. A "×N" badge shows on the collection row when you have more than one.

Hands-free with Siri

Built for when your hands are full of comics — say "Hey Siri, …" or find the commands in the Shortcuts app. Collection questions read your saved collection on your device; nothing leaves the phone, and they need a saved collection to answer against.

Check if you already own a comic#

"Hey Siri, check my Comic Scry collection" → Siri asks "Which comic?" → say a title like "Tales to Astonish 34" → it tells you yes or no out loud, then offers to check another. Standing at a shop with your hands full, it's how you avoid buying a double. Other ways to start it: "Search my Comic Scry," "Look up a comic in Comic Scry," "Do I have a comic in Comic Scry."

Start a scan by voice#

"Hey Siri, scan a comic in Comic Scry" opens the camera. You can also map this to the Action Button for a one-press scan — no voice needed. (Siri opens the scanner; you still point and shoot.)

Ask about your collection#

"What's my Comic Scry collection worth," "How many comics do I have in Comic Scry," and "What's my most valuable comic in Comic Scry" are each answered out loud. The value answers use the same eBay asking-price ranges as the app — a market signal, not a sale price.
